I was inspired to participate in the RBC Race for the Kids after the amazing experience that my family had living at RMHC during my daughter's bone marrow transplant. New to Minneapolis and scared out of our minds for what was about to happen, we were so comforted to be around all the staff at RMHC who made us feel at home and cared for.

How have I been successful?

I was able to rally a lot of support through my Facebook and Instagram channels. I threw out the bat signal posting about a month prior and then two weeks out, one week out, one day out and multiple times during the walk. I thought it was important to share photos of Layla and our family as well as WHY I was asking for the donation. I shared small stories from our experience at RMHC and reminded my audience that we wanted to ensure that the next unfortunate family had the same support system. The photos and messages worked and the donations came rolling in. Some small and some large, but all adding up to a wonderful gift at the end of the day!
