Declan's Avengers

Welcome to the Declan's Avenger's team page!

In November of 2016, then 17-month-old Declan Leehan, was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. He was rushed to Minneapolis where a rigorous 9 month treatment plan was established, however this plan required him to remain in the twn cities area for that time. His parents, Drew and Lyndsey comtemplated what the enxt 9 months would look like- a big question being housing. With full time jobs and two little girls at home in East Grand Forks, moving was not really an option. That's when they were introduced to the Ronald McDonald House. Little did they know the first night, that this place would become more than a place to sleep. It was a place to relax, let the girls and Declan play, get a meal and escape the sterile din of the hospital for awhile. Not only that, it became a place of community, with friendships forming with other families and staff. For those 9 months, it became their home.

On August 4, 2017 Declan and his family left the Ronald McDonald House to spend his last days in their East Grand Forks home. Two days later, on August 6th, he departed to his heavenly home. On this anniversay of leaving RMH for the last time, we want to give back a small portion of what was given to us throughout Declan's treatment. We would like to enable the same gifts of comfort and community to be shared with other families experiencing childhood illnesses. We were so blessed by this wonderufl place, and would love to pass it on.

Thank you for your support!
