Team Norah
Welcome to our RBC Race for the Kids #TEAMNORAH page! We are joining forces to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Since 1979, Ronald McDonald House has provided a home-away-from-home for families to keep them together during a child’s health crisis, when family matters most. They have grown from serving 400 to over 5,000 families each year and from a single house in Minneapolis to four locations across the Twin Cities.
Few organizations have touched our hearts and lives in as significant a way as the Ronald McDonald House.
Our daughter, Norah, was born on March 1st, 2017 with Trisomy 13. We were graced with her presence for five short days before she was called back to heaven on March 6th. Because of her diagnosis, Norah spent the entirety of her time on earth in the NICU at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. It was during those 5 precious days that we found love, refuge, and peace at the Ronald McDonald house.
While I was still recovering from my C-Section, Lane and I were welcomed with open arms into the RMH for meals or to gather family just steps away from our baby girl. After I was discharged, we spent our last two nights at the RMH, just down the hall from the NICU. The RMH acted as a hub for visiting friends and family as well as a safe haven for us to be able to recharge while being just a phone call away from the NICU nurses. We enjoyed meals prepared with love by volunteers that nourished our soul. Our room was fully stocked with every necessity we forgot, we had access to snacks whenever we were hungry, and the best part (in Lane’s opinion) was the never-empty pot of delicious hot coffee. The RMH allowed us a space to gather, connect, and survive.
The Ronald McDonald house played a vital role in our daughter’s short life and has left an everlasting mark on our family. We’re participating in this walk to support not only this great cause, but the thousands of families that will walk through their doors in their time of greatest need. The RMH wouldn’t be able to care for families such as ours without the hours of help from volunteers, or the financial support of donations. There aren’t words to express the amount of gratitude we have for every hour, every dollar donated that supported us during the hardest experience of our lives.
So we’re asking you to join us in supporting the Ronald McDonald house. Join us from the comfort of your home and run, walk, or skate 5k with us in your own neighborhood, or join us financially by making a donation to RMH today.
On behalf of all of the RMH families – we thank you.
XOXO – Lane, Joanna, Lora, Norah, August, Ava, Zoe & Hannah
